All Liberation Nuts products carry the official Fairtrade certification mark, which means that producers are guaranteed at least the Fairtrade minimum price for their nuts. The Fairtrade minimum is designed to ensure that all workers are paid a living and workable wage – if the going market price is ever above the Fairtrade minimum, Liberation Nuts pay at least the market price for the nuts.
Farmers are also given a Fairtrade premium payment for every kilogram of nuts that they sell. The Fairtrade premium helps farmers to invest in their own community projects, in areas such as health care, education, and tools and equipment. A recent project funded by the Fairtrade premium was solar-powered fences to protect cashew trees, whilst not hurting the endangered elephants that like to eat the nuts.
