Liberation Nuts sources their nuts from co-operatives around the world, and is the UK’s only farmer-owned nut company, with small-scale nut producers owning a 44 percent share of the company. Liberation Nuts was founded by the pioneering fair trade organisation, Twin Trading, which is the other major shareholder. They run some amazing projects on behalf of Liberation Nuts, working in particular with peanut and macadamia producers in Malawi.

Fairly Traded

Fairly traded-(large)All Liberation Nuts products carry the official Fairtrade certification mark, which means that producers are guaranteed at least the Fairtrade minimum price for their nuts. The Fairtrade minimum is designed to ensure that all workers are paid a living and workable wage – if the going market price is ever above the Fairtrade minimum, Liberation Nuts pay at least the market price for the nuts.

Gives Back

The Fairtrade premium helps farmers to invest in their own community projects, in areas such as health care, education, and tools and equipment. A recent project funded by the Fairtrade premium was solar-powered fences to protect cashew trees, whilst not hurting the endangered elephants that like to eat the nuts.
