Natural Bleach by Mangle & Wringer

Natural Bleach – £3.50

Excuse us while we rave a little about this gentle chlorine-free biodegradable bleach; we tried it on various different stains, both on white and coloured fabrics, and were totally amazed by the results. Whites turn out whiter and colours brighter when you add a little of this natural bleach to your wash, and if you want to tackle specific tougher stains, you can mix it up in a tub and soak the offending fabric for a few hours. The instructions state that it only works on natural or organic stains such as food, mud, blood, etc., but we found that it even managed to remove a little of a tough acrylic paint stain, which was more than we could have reasonably hoped for. You can also use this natural bleach to clean your toilets, as it is safe for septic tanks. When diluted in water, this clever product releases oxygen, and is apparently the most natural bleach next to sunlight.

Mangle & Wringer is a small UK company based in the heart of the Cotswolds, specialising in natural cleaning remedies that do the hard work for you. All of their products are hand made based on tried and tested homemade traditional cleaning recipes, and contain mostly food-grade ingredients. Their products are entirely non-toxic, and don’t contain any chemical fragrances, so you can rest assured that your home will be clean without any harmful chemical residues.

They do deliver internationally, but request that you contact them on: to find out about delivery charges.

Environmentally-Friendly-(large)Whereas most bleaches contain harsh chemicals such as chlorine, this natural bleach is made from sodium percarbonate, which is an oxidising agent that eventually decomposes into water, oxygen, and sodium carbonate.

The fact that all of Mangle & Wringer’s products are biodegradable, non-toxic, and made using food-grade ingredients means that you are cutting back on the amount of harmful chemicals in your home as well as in the water supply; a win-win situation for your health as well as the health of the planet. All ingredients come from renewable and sustainable sources.

Handmade-(large)As a small family-run business, Mangle & Wringer make all of their products by hand at their workshop in Moreton in Marsh in the Cotswolds, England. Their recipes are based on the knowledge of a long-time housekeeper and friend of the family, who learned to clean some of England’s most beautiful old homes using naturally anti-bacterial, eco-friendly ingredients and her own secret soap recipe using 100% pure coconut and sunflower oils.
