Seasalt’s trademark Tin Cloth outer material uses 100% organic cotton, ensuring a lower environmental impact than traditional cotton and other fabrics. Around 60% of their cotton collection brand-wide is organic, and they use many recycled and sustainable alternatives for their products.
Their Environmental Policy lays out their commitment to environmental responsibility in their business, including dealing responsibly with their waste, using local producers wherever possible through their Locally Made project, using renewable energy sources wherever possible, and giving preference to suppliers who share their commitment to environmental responsibility.
This jacket was made in China, in a factory that complies with Seasalt’s strict Ethical Trading Policy. As well as being signed up to the Ethical Trading Initiative’s Base Code, which requires members to adhere to – and continually work towards – basic labour standards, Seasalt is committed to ensuring that all of their producers, whether in the UK or abroad, maintain safe working environments and treat their employees fairly. They require all of their suppliers to sign their Statement of Commitment to Ethical Trading and comply with their Purchasing Policy. They strive to maintain transparency by monitoring their progress as closely as possible, and openly reporting their performance.
