Razor by Preserve
Triple Razor System (Handle and Two Blades) – $8.50
Preserve was founded in 1996 by outdoors-enthusiast Eric Hudson, who noticed that the growing trend for recycling among consumers wasn’t being reflected in the manufacturing industry. With a mission to transform recycled materials into new products, he began creating a range of everyday household items that could then be recycled once again at the end of their usable life.
The Triple Razor is one of the highlights of Preserve’s product line. Well-designed and BPA-free, the ergonomic handle is made from 100% recycled yoghurt pots and is fully recyclable after use – though they’re extremely durable and won’t need replacing often. The razor comes with two removable titanium-coated blades that last just as well (if not better) than those made by conventional brands, and feature a moisturising strip made from aloe vera, vitamin E oil, vegan colouring and a plastic-based binding agent.
Preserve is based in the USA, but many UK green living shops and online stores also sell their razors.
All Preserve products are made from 100% recycled plastic, and can be recycled again after use. Preserve and its partners also established the ‘Gimme 5’ recycling program for the highly-prevalent yet widely under-recycled ‘number 5’ category of polypropylene plastics, which allows customers to deposit yoghurt pots and other similar packaging into special collection bins placed at participating retail outlets or simply post them back to Preserve to be transformed into new products. The Triple Razor’s packaging is made from renewable wood sources, and can be re-used as a travel case.
Preserve products are never tested on animals, and are all suitable for vegans.
