Lavender Mint Sea Salt Soap – £6.68

KopaKauai is a small-batch artisan soap company based in Princeville, on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. The business was established by Jenny Mason in 2013 to compliment her daughter’s line of natural beauty products, Leahlani Skincare. All the soaps are made by Jenny herself using natural and organic ingredients, with scents inspired by island botanicals, and are hand-cut and individually wrapped with plenty of love and aloha.

Browsing the KopaKauai Etsy shop makes us feel a bit like kids in a candy store, and it’s almost too hard to pick a favourite. The range of traditional soaps is amazing, and includes such tropical delights as papaya, guava, pikake (Hawaiian jasmine), plumeria, lychee and mango – but it’s the sea salt soaps that have really got us excited. Made with a blend of coconut, olive and avocado oils mixed with mango butter, they’re super moisturising and the minerals in the sea salt help your skin to absorb the soap’s natural glycerine. After a few uses these beauties go smooth and hard like a polished stone: they produce more of a creamy lotion than a lather, meaning they last really well and are ideal for use in the bath or shower. Our personal favourite is the Lavender Mint, which has a dreamy relaxing fragrance that’s both fresh and floral at the same time.

HandmadeKopaKauai is a true family business: all the soap is handmade by Jenny, before being hand-cut and individually wrapped with a little help from her husband, Pete, and any friends who happen to drop by. Even the packaging is designed by Jenny’s daughter, Hali.
