Water Filter by Soma

Water Pitcher and Carafe With Sustainable Replaceable Filters – $39

Soma’s water filtration pitcher and carafe feature coconut shell carbon and plant-based casing so you can feel good about your water. The shatter-proof, BPA-free plastic pitcher holds a generous ten cups, while the glass carafe holds six. Each filter lasts 40 gallons, which means you can fill it every day for two months. You can also opt to have Soma automatically deliver fresh filters to you on a two-monthly basis so that you have a handy reminder to change your filter.

The Soma water pitcher (as well as the slightly smaller glass carafe) are notable for two main reasons: their stellar design, and the clean water efforts their purchase supports. If you’ve ever rued the necessity of including your clunky standard water pitcher in your otherwise stylish table arrangement, Soma will come to your rescue: the pitcher with its white oak handle and the hourglass-shaped glass carafe are both sleek and aesthetically appealing. And to top it off, every Soma filter purchased results in a donation to charity: water, supporting sustainable, community-driven projects in developing countries.

The Water Quality Association has tested and certified the Soma filter to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 requirements for the reduction of chlorine, taste, and odor, which means that as well as looking good and doing good, they also work. While Soma isn’t certified with Standard 53 like some other popular filters, that’s only because a built-in filter monitor feature isn’t included (and if you opt for your filters to be delivered as needed, another reminder isn’t really necessary). This product is not currently available in the UK.

Environmentally-Friendly-(large)Soma uses post-consumer waste and recyclable materials for shipping and packaging, as well as making use of coconut shell carbon and plant-based casing in its pitchers. It also offsets emissions with conservation-based forestry efforts.
